Check out e-sword.net. This the best free Bible software available. The only Catholic translations available in it are the Douay-Rheims and the Vulgate (which is in Latin). But the ESV is a very good translation and is available, without the deuterocanonical books. E-sword also has the original King James Version available with the deuterocanonicals at the end.FYI: Deuterocanonical books are the ones that Catholics, Orthodox, Episcopalians and some Lutherans have in their Bibles, but other Protestants don’t have these books. Weird, I know. The books were booted by Martin Luther because they were not preserved in Hebrew, only in Greek translation and they were rejected by the “Council of Jamnia.” The Council of Jamnia was a convention of Jewish rabbis after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Historians are not sure whether the event even happened, but they rejected the deuterocanonical books. They include parts of Daniel and Esther, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Baruch, Sirach (a.k.a. Ecclesiasticus), Wisdom, Tobit and Judith. All of these books are in the Septuagint (LXX) the 3rd Century BC Greek translation of the Old Testament. Whew, that’s a lot of info in a tiny space. Oh yeah, Catholics have always kept the deuterocanonical books since the Canon (the list of biblical books) was formed in the 3rd and 4th centuries. No one removed them from the Christian Bible until Luther. KJVA BibleBible King James Version with ApocryphaThe King James Version (KJV), commonly known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. First printed by the King's Printer Robert Barker, this was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities.James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy. The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew text, while the Apocrypha were translated from the Greek and Latin. The Biblical apocrypha (from the Greek word aπόκρυφος, apókruphos, meaning "hidden") denotes the collection of ancient books found, in some editions of the Bible, in a separate section between the Old and New Testaments or as an appendix after the New Testament. Although the term apocrypha had been in use since the 5th century, it was in Luther's Bible of 1534 that the Apocrypha was first published as a separate intertestamental section. Luther was making a polemical point about the canonicity of these books. As an authority for this division, he cited St. Jerome, who in the early 5th century distinguished the Hebrew and Greek Old Testaments, stating that books not found in the Hebrew were not received as canonical. Although his statement was controversial in his day, Jerome was later titled a Doctor of the Church and his authority was also cited in the Anglican statement in 1571 of the Thirty-Nine Articles.King James VersionThe English-language King James Version (KJV) of 1611 followed the lead of the Luther Bible in using an inter-testamental section labelled "Books called Apocrypha", or just "Apocrypha" at the running page header. The KJV followed the Geneva Bible of 1560 almost exactly (variations are marked below). The section contains the following:1 Esdras (Vulgate 3 Esdras)2 Esdras (Vulgate 4 Esdras)TobitJudith ("Judeth" in Geneva)Rest of Esther (Vulgate Esther 10:4-16:24)WisdomEcclesiasticus (also known as Sirach)Baruch and the Epistle of Jeremy ("Jeremiah" in Geneva) (all part of Vulgate Baruch)Song of the Three Children (Vulgate Daniel 3:24-90)Story of Susanna (Vulgate Daniel 13)The Idol Bel and the Dragon (Vulgate Daniel 14)Prayer of Manasses (follows 2 Chronicles in Geneva)1 Maccabees2 MaccabeesIncluded in this list are those books of the Clementine Vulgate that were not in Luther's canon. These are the books most frequently referred to by the casual appellation "the Apocrypha". These same books are also listed in Article VI of the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Church of England. Despite being placed in the Apocrypha, in the table of lessons at the front of some printings of the King James Bible, these books are included under the Old Testament. The man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.Sooner or later all the people of the world will have to discover a way to live together in peace, and thereby transform this pending cosmic elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood.Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.Peace is more precious than diamonds or silver or gold.Character, Consensus & ExcellenceDr. King had very high standards for himself, his family, and everyone he was trying to lead. These words of wisdom underline that standard:I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.Whatever your life’s work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.Forgiveness, Overcome & Light Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. lived the lessons he learned in the Bible. He understood the humanness of our nature: We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.Forgiveness is not an occasional act; it is a constant attitude. We must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.Dignity, Service & QualityDr. Martin Luther King, Jr. personified the meaning of Dignity, Service and Quality. He never misled his followers. He did not believe in violence, and made no exceptions for it. He celebrated service to others, and he was a high-quality leader. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating for whites only. I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education. Luther's Bible. History of Luther's Bible by Philip Schaff.
