I’ve got a Sonos Port with audio input from an Apple TV, and output going into an amp and speakers (non-Sonos). I can’t control the volume on the amp remotely. I’d like to have a remote to control the volume on the Sonos Port.I know how to configure an Apple TV remote to control a Sonos Playbar. Is this possible for the Sonos Port? Hi @eulerfx, Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the community. Regarding your concern about controlling the volume on the Sonos Port, however, The Sonos Port doesn’t have an IR receiver to control the volume of the Amp and the speakers connected to it. Let us know how you get on with the advice above. We're here to answer any further questions you have. Ok, I understand there is no IR receiver to control the volume. Is there no way to control the volume on my Sonos Port with a hardware remote control? No, only a phone, tablet, PC or Mac using the Sonos controller or one of the alternates. Hi @eulerfx, thanks for the update. I agree with @Stanley_4 that a phone, tablet, PC, or Mac are capable of controlling the Sonos App. Let us know how you get on with the advice above. We're here to answer any further questions you have. Can someone confirm whether the Lutron Caseta Audio and/or Senic Nuimo hardware buttons work on the Port’s variable line-out volume, like they control the standalone speaker volume? I have never tried it, but. Removing fuctionality in the PC Controller software makes me quite frustrated. I have to stop upgrading the Sonos software. Way too much bullshit is done because of lazy programmers and idiotic corporate decisions. My old controllers stopped working which was a great way to instantly have Sonos available to all my guests and all children in the house, internal or external. My Samsung tabs are too old to be used. My spare smartphones are too old to run the Sonos software. My previous iPhone are too old to run the software. Come on, Sonos! Wake up to what you're doing to your customers! I will now for the first time in 15 years STOP recommending Sonos to anyone I meet from now on. I've always been a big fan. Not anymore. I'm getting ready to throw everything out for sale to get me something else that I can rely on and doesnt make my day troublesome. Maybe even find something that supports bluetooth as well.By not letting me do everything through my PC anymore, is just super inconvenient and totally unneccesary! The code is already programmed and in the software. Version 9.2 just disables it. Why??Also there is a lot of bugs in 9.2. It doesnt remember the window placement anymore, it doesn't show the queues properly and lots of other small crap. How can I go back to 9.1 on my Windows PC?In a few years, this idiotic change will most likely be reversed at Sonos and at any other company that today stupidly believe noone wants to own a computer anymore. The combination of big screen, keyboard and mouse will always be superior in usability to any smart device with only a touchscreen and voice control. NO way to roll back - you would have to uninstall and find a cached version of the old installer. I don't even know if it would work then but you could try. I'm looking to do the same. Our music was monitored at a service desk and did not want visitors to change music so having a desktop controller was ideal. Our WIFI at the speaker was disabled so as to not cause issues with our network. I've emailed Sonos asking for the previous controller due to the issues this version has created. If answered I will post back here. Rolling back requires a DeLorean DMC-12 and some plutonium, you have to go back and stop yourself from upgrading.Sonos doesn't support it, the older versions of the internal firmware aren't available and finding old controller software won't help because the new firmware won't talk to it except to say: "You need to upgrade" and maybe offer you a limited set ofRoku Sonos Controller - Sonos Community
Would like to know… (yah, lazy!-) Hi @tracker, Thanks for reaching out. Regarding your concern, you may check this link for the compatibility of those 3rd party integrated channels with Sonos. Let us know how you get on with the advice above. We're here to answer any further questions you have. Hi, @Simon B , Thanks for responding. BUT: (1) The link you provided does not answer the specific question posed: Does “volume control” -- which of course all those devices do! -- extend to “variable line out” on the Port? (2) Also note that the chart in that article does not even list the Senic Nuimo which Sonos sells from the website. (3) Is that why you did not recommend any of those devices in response to @eulerfx asking, “Is there no way to control the volume on my Sonos Port with a hardware remote control?” Let us know how you get on with the implied advice in #2 above. And #1 & #3 above are, in fact, any further questions I have, which you may now answer! Hi @tracker, thanks for the update. Regarding your concerns, on the 1st question. Yes, it does control variable out if it's not on pass-through, ‘Pass-through’ is for use with ‘Works with Sonos’ amps/receivers that are able to register with the Sonos API for external control via the Sonos controller app. The Sonos Port outputs a Fixed stereo signal, and the volume control in the app adjusts the level in the downstream. Once your WeMo's have been setup on the network add the WeMo Controller to the project, it will scan the network for all belkin devices (this may grab motion sensors as well) and create bindings by name for each of them. Don't worry about changing the names of WeMo devices either, the underlying map for them is the UUID of the device. After that simply add WeMo Endpoints to the project and bind them to the WeMo Controller bindings. If any WeMo devices are missed simply run the "Generate Bindings" action and the controller will pick them up and add a connection. You can find all information here, as well as the download link: Issues:Currently there doesn't seem to be a way to receive broadcasts from Control4's DriverWorks API.
